From Emptiness to Satisfaction, M.K.

I grew up as a “typical Los Angeles kid” all my life. The son of Armenian immigrants, I had some sort of a Christian background. Although I knew about God, I never knew God Himself. Although I had heard of Christ, I had never experienced Him as my Savior. Seemingly, I was content with the little bit of satisfaction I had in my life, which mainly included hanging out with my friends, making good grades in school, and having fun. In reality, I was empty and longing for true satisfaction and meaning in my life.

But praise the Lord, that one day I found Him. Actually, He found me when I was in high school. I met the Lord through a classmate who was a dear Christian. Eventually I was brought to the local church in Los Angeles where I was cherished and nourished so warmly by the saints there. I have been brought to love the Lord Jesus and to feed on His Word for my true satisfaction, my life supply. I owe everything to the dear brothers and sisters in the local church in Los Angeles. They brought me to know Christ and taught me to enjoy Him.

A Lover of Christ

I first found the ministries of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee in 1992 when I was still in high school. At that time I was a typical teenager doing my own thing and going my own way. Having grown up in a nominal Christian family, I had a vague idea of who God was and my relationship with Him was shallow at best. To me, the church was a boring place where I was forced to go twice a year during the holidays. This concept prevailed until I was first introduced to some books by Witness Lee through a Christian classmate. I learned that a simple way to touch the Lord was to just call on His name, and I learned how to enjoy the riches of God's Word by praying over them. I was taught that God is not far away, nor cold and impersonal, but that He is in my human spirit. He is dwelling in me and so available for me to contact Him and enjoy Him for my every need. Most of all, through the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, I saw that I sincerely belong to Christ. I have been made a lover of Christ, because through the ministry of these two men, I've seen that Christ is the One of peerless worth and the fairest of the fair. I love Christ because I've seen a glimpse of who and what He is to me. My relationship with Him is more intimate, personal, and loving than ever before. What a difference there has been in my life! I have gone from being a nominal Christian who only knew a distant God to being a lover of Christ. This is due to the mercy and grace of my Lord Jesus Christ. But it was through the writings of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. I thank and praise God for these two faithful servants of the household of the faith.
